The Geita Gold Mine is one of Africa's largest gold mines, operated by AngloGold Ashanti. Located in Geita Region in northwest Tanzania near Lake Victoria, it has been in operation since 1999. The Geita Gold Refinery was inaugurated by President Samia Suluhu Hassan, enabling domestic gold processing.
