Hon. Anthony P. Mavunde is the current Minister of Minerals of the United Republic of Tanzania. He was appointed to this position by His Excellency President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan.
As Minister, Hon. Mavunde has led Tanzania's delegation to key international forums including Mining Indaba 2026 in Cape Town, South Africa, where Tanzania positioned itself as a strategic partner in the global critical minerals value chain.
Under his leadership, the Ministry has overseen significant milestones including the granting of a Rare Earth Elements (REE) licence to STAMICO in Sesenga, Morogoro, and the launch of graphite mine construction at Kinywe Mahenge.

Hon. Dr. Steven L. Kiruswa serves as Deputy Minister of Minerals. He holds a doctoral degree and brings significant academic and professional experience to the role.
Dr. Kiruswa has represented Tanzania at the Second African Ministers of Mining Meeting, participating in continental discussions on strategic mineral policy.
He has also conducted field visits to active mining operations, including the Shanta Gold Mine in Singida and witnessed the signing of the Coal Sales Agreement (Mkataba wa Mauziano Makaa ya Mawe).
Eng. Yahya I. Samamba serves as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Minerals. As Permanent Secretary, he is the chief accounting officer and principal advisor to the Minister on technical matters related to the mineral sector.
Eng. Samamba issued the official statement announcing the rescheduling of the 7th International Mining Investment Conference from November 2025 to 19โ21 November 2026, to be held at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre in Dar es Salaam.
He also oversaw the receipt of a book from the Ambassador of India during bilateral discussions on strategic mineral research cooperation.

Mr. Msafiri L. Mbibo serves as Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Minerals, supporting the Permanent Secretary in overseeing day-to-day operations and policy implementation.
Mr. Mbibo has represented the Ministry at key events including the 8th Mining Technology Exhibition in Geita, where he joined Ministry staff and women miners (TAWOMA) in promoting inclusive participation in Tanzania's mineral sector.
